Bird Control Solutions:

We offer humane bird deterrents for commercial properties. Finding the best solution for your specific property depends on the particular bird species, level of infestation, and architecture of your building. The most common bird control solutions we provide include netting, spikes, and wire coils. We also have bird scare devices piloted by RayAccess FAA certified drone pilots

Bird Netting:

A very humane and effective bird control method. Depending on the size and configuration, mesh can keep out everything from seagulls to sparrows. It can be used in enclosed or semi-enclosed areas such as open beam structures, loading docks, building facades, courtyards, bridges, etc. Bird netting is a stainless steel and color customizable wire mesh that easily blends in with any building’s unique tone and style.

Bird Spikes:

Don’t be alarmed by the word spike as bird spikes are another humane method that is completely harmless to both birds and humans. Spikes will keep pigeons and larger sized birds away. It can be used on ledges, parapets caps, roof peaks, chimneys, beams, security cameras, lighting, etc. Spikes are made of plastic or stainless steel and point upward at different angles. The downside is that bird spikes have a menacing aesthetic.

Bird Coils:

Bird Coils smooth curves are completely harmless to birds. Just like bird spikes, they work best in keeping pigeons and larger birds away. Bird coils are perfect on long exposed ledges, parapets, signs, beams, and pipes. When seen from a distance greater than 20 feet, these stainless steel coils disappear to the naked eye.

Synthetic Sounds:

Often referred to as songbirds, birds are known for their ability to chirp and make beautiful sounds. Birds use these songs to attract mates and claim territory.  Since their hearing is also quite good, and can pick up sounds far better than the human ear. Devices that make sonic and ultrasonic sounds can be very effective bird deterrents.

Predatory Dummies:

Birds have amazing eyesight that is far superior to humans. Birds have some level of UV vision. The ability to sleep with one eye open. They also may be able to see earth’s magnetic field. A bird’s eyesight serves as an early warning signal against predatory birds such as eagle owls, hawks, and falcons.

Visual dummies that pose as predatory birds strategically placed can also be effective at dispersing bird flocks. Fake predatory bird dummies and synthetic sound devices are often used together to scare birds away.

Government Regulation:

Studies have shown that birds have been around for over 60 million years. They are one of the most important animals in our ecosystem due to the fact that they control the insect population, and help plants grow by spreading seeds/pollen throughout the land. The federal government protects over 1100 species of birds with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.

However, non-native birds are not protected such as pigeons, seagulls, starlings, and sparrows [1]. Generally considered pests, these birds have huge populations. Still, RayAccess provides humane bird deterrent solutions, merely forcing birds to find a different nesting or roosting zone. Our humane solutions control birds without using pesticides.

The Dangers Of Bird Infestation:

Expensive Building Repairs:

Bird infestation can compromise your building’s structural integrity and call for very expensive repairs. This is due to the constant pecking of a bird’s beak & claws. In addition to the fact that bird droppings are highly acidic. If not cleaned, bird droppings will corrode exterior paint right down to the building substrate.

Unsightly Appearance:

The sight of bird droppings all over sidewalks, cars, and buildings can leave a bad taste with customers. We believe the cleanliness of your property reflects directly on the quality of your business.

Health Hazards:

Pest birds transmit disease and carry parasites such as bed bugs, fleas, and ticks. Studies show there are over 60 diseases that are transmitted from bird activity including E Coli, Salmonellosis, Histoplasmosis to name a few [2]. The dust from pigeon droppings is a biohazard and can drop into and contaminate air conditioning units. Inhalation is particularly harmful to those with respiratory problems.

Clogged Gutters & Electrical Damage:

Bird nests in pipes and gutters can block water drainage systems. They can also clog HVAC units and damage lighting or electrical equipment. Flooding and fire hazards can lead to very expensive building repairs.

Nuisance to Customers:

You know you have a bird problem when a customer complains about being attacked. Seagulls are particularly known to be aggressive pests. House sparrows and starlings travel in flocks. A large number of birds can be very offensive to customers.

Our Process For Bird Control:

We evaluate the site and severity of bird infestation. Depending on the bird species you are dealing with, RayAccess will advise on the best deterrent for pest control. The next step is to perform a thorough sanitizing and cleanup of all bird waste.  Finally, we install the recommended bird control deterrent at your site. It’s a simple 3-step process.

  1. Site Evaluation
  2. Biohazard Cleanup
  3. Bird Deterrent Installation

How Much Does Bird Control Cost?

There are many variables that determine the cost of installing a bird control deterrent at your property. RayAccess bird control estimates are quoted based on the scope of each individual project but we look at the following:

  • Access difficulty to where the bird deterrent is installed
  • Type of bird control solution
  • The severity of cleanup service
  • Do any additional building components need to be removed or installed

Getting an estimate is easy with RayAccess. Kindly contact our customer service team; someone will take down some information and provide a quote.

Choosing the Right Bird Control Contractor:

Rope Access Certified:

We employ rope access certified technicians. Oftentimes it is more cost-effective to employ rope access methods when working on buildings than scaffolding or cranes. In addition, rope access is less disruptive than using bulky machinery that can block foot traffic.

Industry Experience:

We have experience working on all types of buildings with challenging access points. In addition, we know the appropriate deterrent for the bird species you are dealing with.

5-Star Project Management:

We hire experienced operation managers that provide a high level of communication. Don’t take our word for it, see what people are saying about RayAccess
